A Day on the Green

Last weekend the whole Armidale family tripped off to
A Day on the Green.

IMAG0032_BURST001It was held near Armidale at Petersons Winery where Sean and Emmy had their wedding a few years ago. Great thanks to whoever took the above great pic from and posted it online (so I could pinch it)! We were watching the plane and helicopter from the ground so its wonderful  to see the view from their side.

And I can almost see Andrew and I down there waving, little black dots we are, but we stand out as we are in the seated white area. Fleet Helicopters (remember our joy flight) have now ventured into classic warbirds. That's an Ad for pinching their pic…

The artists were, Lisa Mitchell..

..then, Mark Seymour and the Undertow.
He was the vocalist from from Hunters and Collectors.
We had great seats, near the stage and there were 7500 people there.
Its a big weekend for Armidale, lots of folk come from far away and all the motels are booked out.

 And the main act was

PAUL KELLY and NEIL FINN!

WOO HOO
We had a great night.
The transport was fantastic, going, we walked to our nearby petrol station and hopped on a Day on the Green bus (4 came at once- you know what they say….)
And coming home was just as easy, dropped off, after a bus sing-a-long
(alcohol induced Bohemia Rhapsody- What! – but Freddy would be proud…) for a 5 minute walk home. We were home at 10pm after a rock concert, gosh we are old folks!

Whoops

We had a little accident.
IMAG0027_BURST001
After all the recent rain one of our trees went over, root ball and all.
IMG_3222
Just one more job to do before we put the house on the market.
IMG_3223
Look at the poor clothesline that's had so many quilt photos taken over the years!
Sean came up with his chainsaw and we just took all the old trees out.
The clothesline just needed to be bent back the right way with Sean swinging on it like a five year old!

Until next time, Kim xxx

Andrew’s Birthday

Here are some photos from our recent night out to celebrate Andrews Birthday.

We all went off to Cafe Affamato, which is a new cafe near the Wicklow hotel,
and walking distance from Sean & Emmy’s new house

Paul’s 50th Birthday Surprise Party

My Brother-in-law, Paul,  is just a wee bit younger than me and had his surprise 50th Birthday Party in January.
IMG_3189
It was to be a surprise, and was mostly. (Although I think he had some sneaking suspicions).
We bought him a tree as he has an acreage and is green fingered. It was a mature sized tree, a Magnolia named ‘Star Wars’.

It was an extremely hot day, very unusual for Armidale to have all this heat.
Unfortunately, Mel's plan of an outside party in a marquee under the trees ended when a big storm arrived in the afternoon.

Everyone squeezed into the dry and still had a great time.

Paul and Mel's veggies are looking great,

Kayden was the centre of attention,

Below- Mel did a great job with the cakes and the decorating.
There was a music, rock concert theme.

…………… and the next day was the recovery breakfast.

Welcome to 2013

Hi everyone and welcome to

another new year – 2013!!

I know I’ve been slow with my posts BUT I’m working fulltime again! – while we recruit and wait for a new Nurse Unit Manager.

I don’t mind really.  I think (and I’m told by those in power) that I do a good job in the higher position. I’ve probably done it for five years, if I add up all the weeks and months I’ve stepped up for, which is longer than any other NUM.

I don’t want the job, its too stressful and I like to have a life outside work, BUT I may be the best NUM the units never had – ha ha…

We are waiting for our new NUM who is coming from the UK, lets see how long before she wants to go home! No, only kidding, it may work out just fine.

Anyway – New Years Day.

One bonus of working as NUM is that I get all the public holidays off and don’t have to do night duty. (and get paid more $$$)

So this year we went on the car club run to the Blue Hole.

IMG_3172IMG_3173

The Blue Hole is Armidale's local swimming hole.

Gara Gorge is locally referred to as the Blue Hole and is located 16kms from Armidale along the Castledoyle Road. Gara Gorge is a popular picnic and barbecue spot. It is well known for its scenic bush strolls and beautiful swimming holes. It is also the site of Australia s first commercial Hydro-electric Scheme. The remains of this historic scheme can be viewed today, via the Threlfall Historic Walk.

A big turn up of folks with hangovers.

Graham is his public holiday not shaving mode. Getting a touch of the Spike Milligans with that beard.

SUGAR & SPICE CHRISTMAS 2012

Well, Christmas is over for another year.
and it was an extremely successful day with good food and good company.

IMG_3151

We had 12 (+ kids)  for dinner/lunch and this year I decided on a sugar and spice theme.
I love those candy bars that are used for weddings and when I saw jars 40% off (plus birthday discount from Robins Kitchen) the theme was set!
