Quilt, 'Fox in a box' finished June 2024

A wall quilt.

I designed the fox faces myself, but took inspiration from the many similar fox face patterns online.

I did some machine applique for the first time and added some jewels and sequins.

The only new fabric I purchased was the spotty blue for the borders, everything else is from my stash which is still overflowing all over the floor!

The quilting design is 'Foxes Garden'

I also joined leftovers for the backing fabric.

While piecing this quilt I was reading the wonderful novel 'What Abigail did that summer'
So I featured Abigail and her talking foxes on the label.

It was the last quilt to be up on my office wall before I retired.

I have two quilts waiting for me to finish the binding.

One top currently at the quilters  and two more tops in the final stages before sending them for quilting.

I am also piecing 'Deeper Water' which is coming together on my display wall and looking good.

I'm not starting anything else until I get some of these things finished!!!

Next quilt 'Little redheads' April 2024

After 13 years of sitting around in a box I have finally got it out and finished the smaller of the two Redheads quilts.

Its called Redheads because the red and gold pieces look like matches.

And I got to use the red backing that was originally planned for the Union Jack quilt,
except I cut it out wrong and it didn't fit!

The quilting was a beautiful pattern called 'Japan', difficult to show it up in photos.

This is it below...

Some of the fabric in this quilt is from vintage kimonos,

I bought the fabric online from Japan.

We weren't even living in this house then!

This is the larger version above.

I'm keeping this smaller one, it will look good on a wall.

I have another quilt finished that I need to photograph, before I post about it.

'Hip to be square' December 2023

Sorry everyone and Dear Readers.

Its taken months to photograph and post about this quilt as the weathers been either pouring rain, blowing a gale or too bright and sunny which makes washed out colour in photos.

Last time I attempted to take photos,

it blew off the line and sailed halfway across the yard landing on the wet grass.

Here below is a previous attempt to take photos in the howling wind and when the grass was green.

This is my take on a granny square crochet rug.

Hence the name hip to be square.

No fabric used twice.

I did my old trick of buying a wide back backing fabric and using it on the front and back.

This fabric was from the Basic Grey Grunge collection and has a lovely silky feel.

I chose a hippy daisy quilt pattern.

And I am going to cheat and backdate this blog to a time when the grass was greener!

I have 2 more finished quilts ready to post about.

But first to catch up with other events in 2024....

Quilt - Under Pressure at Christmas

Here is my latest finished quilt and finally getting a lot of UFOs (Unfinished objects) out of the way.

I finished this one in early September, just been a bit slow updating the blog.

This is the smaller version of the one I finished in 2016.

Here is its big brother pictured below.

I gave the smaller one a Christmas theme and its backing is Christmas fabric.

I have 2 more quilts waiting for me to finish the binding,
and 2 more on the design wall just waiting for the final borders.

I've been a bit busy over the past month working on the 2023 Kim's Christmas extravaganza.

Which is a Donsy.
(google it).
All to be revealed soon.
