Today we started with a short walk to the River Clyde. Lovely reflections.
This was once the lifeblood of the city when its main industries were steel and shipping.
It reminds me a bit of Newcastle in Australia, once an industrial city but now being remade into a modern place to live.
This is the street art park by the river, they do like their murals in Glasgow. That is just a glimpse of our apartment block, the red building in the centre of the photo.
This is the Finnieston Crane.
I think that this snip below say's it better than I can explain.
This, above, is the Armadillo and Ovo centre.
Riverside Museum
Although the locals still call it the transport museum.
I wonder why! ha ha.
It was opened in 2011 so its reasonably new with great displays.
Not just cars, (buses, trains and ships) there is some interesting social history things as well.
They have a Victorian street.
We saw something similar in 2011 in York
Also a carnival and fair display, just to add to my collection of carousel horse photos.
These ones are Christine and Natasha.
A world map on the floor.
No place like home...
(My lovely pink slip in Sketchers, filthy now. They have done many km's and are covered in desert dust. But I'll soon pop them in the washing machine and they'll be like new. Sketchers highly recommended.)
-----------------------
Then back to our apartment for more microwaved meat, new potato and veg.
(The microwave in the apartment was so technical that we had to google the instructions. I think I am just falling behind the times when my simple microwave at home is just press a button and it goes. I'll never complain about that old fashion thing again, it can stay until it dies).
But now for a couple of my observations about Glaswegian's.
They have a couple of interesting foibles.
We saw a few of these cone enhanced statues. I guess it stops the seagulls sitting on the heads. (sitting and the other thing).
I saw traffic cone earrings in one gift shop which puzzled me at the time, but now I know why.
Above: This is the Duke of Wellington.
Oh!!!! I've just googled it!
It really is a thing!
Its world famous, showing the high spirits of Glaswegian's.
I'm still laughing! Check out the below link.
Their other quirk is stickers.
There are stickers on everything...
Stand still and you will get a sticker on your back!
