Cambridge - Wednesday 23rd April - Our 20th wedding anniversary

Above is Kings college from the backs.

Today we went on a guided walking tour and here are some of the highlights.

  Kings college again.
This is the Corpus Clock which is too complicated to explain!
The grasshopper/dragon thingy is a time eater. Devouring your time...

Like all good walking tours it ended in a pub.

But this is a special pub.

The Eagle.

It was where they celebrated the discovery of DNA amongst other things.

As it is our anniversary we went a little more upmarket for dinner at a restaurant by the River Cam.
I had some nice mussels, Graham had fish and we finished by sharing a very nice warm chocolate fondant Yum!.

Cambridge - Tuesday 22nd April - On the Hop on hop off bus

Something we haven't done for a long time is get a hop on hop off bus. But we decided that it would save some walking in Cambridge,

But first this is the college where we are staying.

 Westminster College.

 This is our little cottage.

This is our view of the college grounds from our cottage.

We got a senior discount on the bus...

Above is the mathematical bridge, over the river Cam. The bridge
was held together with no fastenings until some student high jinks made it fall down...

Our first stop today was the Sedgwick Museum.

There was a LOT of rocks...

It has a lots of the samples that Darwin collected on the Beagle.

Below is Darwin having a protest.

Back on the bus,,,

This time to the Fitzwilliam Museum.

A very pretty room of still life.

Here is the now Prince and Princess of Wales.

Beautiful building. I won't bore you with more photos of great master paintings.

And the bus took us home nearly to the front door.

We actually feel like eating tonight!

So it was off for a pizza and (a too big) gelato around the corner at an Italian restaurant.

London to Cambridge - Easter Monday 21st April - Travel day

Short update.

Traveled by train to Cambridge.

We are staying in a cottage in the grounds of one of the colleges.

Dinner was still a struggle, tonight at the Punters pub which is just across the road from our cottage.

Still can't stomach chocolate which is a bit sad at Easter.

London - Easter Sunday 20th April - The Tower of London and The National Gallery

Last day in London and we visited the Tower of London.

We weren't planning to go to the crown jewels but there was no queue so we changed our mind.

Its changed since we were last there, much easier to see things.

When we came out the queue was a 'mile'  long so we went at the right time.

We ate a hot meal at the new cafe, well we shared one between the two of us. The first proper meal we have had for days.

We visited the Ravens.

 This is Edgar below.
You can tell by the colour of the ring on their leg.

Below:-This one is Poppy.

and this is Poppy being a bin chicken...

Below is the memorial to those that lost their heads at the Tower.

Then as we still had some time we hopped on a bus to Trafalgar Square.

Its closed! There is some sort of celebration for St Georges Day on this week.

So it was off to the National Gallery where the first thing we saw was Lady Jane Grey having her head chopped off at the Tower of London...

Unlike our last visit here you can now take photos!

So here are some of my favs!

The Fighting Temeraire - we have a copy on our lounge room wall.

And then we caught the number 9 bus at nearby Charing Cross and it dropped us right outside our front door!
