Stopping for one night on our way to Bern In Switzerland.
But it gave us a few hours to spend in beautiful Vienna.
And its hot, not as hot as last time we were here 5 years ago when it was 35 degrees, but about 28 degrees. Europe is having a very unusual hot spell for October, and the locals are making the most of it before winter arrives.
(Even the squirrels are gathering their nuts)
So we went into St Stephens Platz, and it was PACKED with people, everybody's out.
To escape we hopped onto the U Bahn and went out to the Schoenberg Palace.
I nearly got pickpocketed on the train, but fortunately I don’t keep my purse in an easily accessible place, and all they found in the main part of my handbag was an umbrella and a used tissue!
Unfortunately, being the 1st October all the opening times had changed (for the winter season) and the Palace was closed before we got there, but we had a chance to look at the gardens.
We came here 5 years ago for an evening concert, in the most beautiful room , but the heat was unbelievable. We may as well have been in Singapore not Vienna. Oh well, one day I’ll get to have a proper look inside the Palace.
Long, long train trip tomorrow – but one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world through Switzerland.
Until next time, Kim
