Opera House again

In Sydney for another concert.

This time Beethoven and yes it is still raining.

The rain was so heavy in Armidale when we flew out that the plane was too heavy to take off so they took off most of the luggage, including ours. They sent it on the next flight and then sent it to our hotel by courier. It didn't arrive until 9pm that night!

It was a great performance at a packed concert hall.

Waiting for a dropped chip at the opera bar...

The flight home was late, but at least our luggage was on the same plane.

Flying in over Armidale from the north.

One last concert in October which will be the Elgar variations.

New England Festival 2019

New England Festival

The New England Festival - previously known as the Armidale Autumn Festival since its launch 27 years ago- has undergone a name change to better embrace the whole region.
The beauty of autumn and amazing colours of our region will be further celebrated with a new event, the Colour New England Street Arts Festival on Saturday 6 April. Council is supporting this community driven initiative to give our local artists centre stage - the visual artists, musicians, theatrical performers and artisans.

New England Festival - March 16

This year's theme - International Heritage of New England

 Really?
27 years of successful Autumn Festivals so you thought you needed to change it, Really?

Anyway, Here we are again with high hopes that this is a change for the better!

The shorter parade route meant that we were around the parade and back at the beginning before half the parade had started!

And they left us baby sitting the local member of state parliament.. Dangerous move!
"Can we have money for a car museum please Mr Marshall"

Here's a first.
Medieval knights sword fighting on the Jessie and Beardy street roundabout.

Then instead of the previous years when we end up in the park.

We ended with a display in Beardy street, outside Richardson's arcade.

It was lunch time everyone was hungry, only 6 food stalls with long queues,
Anyone with kids took off to the carnival rides in the park.

The crowds dispersed, we were stuck out of the way and no one really came out of their way to look at the cars.
So we dispersed as well, and all got to go home early!

Armidale's Autumn Festival Parade 2018

Hi Dear Readers, its time for the Autumn Festival which is always a big event for the car club. Usually I go around in the car, but I've never properly seen the parade so this year I decided to be a spectator.

And below is Mrs C in the parade.

I started the day sitting in the gutter outside the New England Hotel...

*snort* I knew I'd end up in the gutter outside the Newie one day.
I'm sure I'm not the first to use the phrase "I started the day sitting in the gutter..." etc

Actually... come to think of it, there was an occasion several years ago,,,,,  but Mindy tells (remembers) that story better than me and it will keep for another time.

Always a treat to drive up the one way streets the wrong way!

And only in country towns can the council include its diggers and street sweepers in the parade!

Then in a fine feat of magic I scuttled up the mall and was at the post office before the cars came around again! Everyone found this slightly amusing, two of me? No its witchcraft I say!

Lots of local cultures marched in groups.

Great weather, probably as I was predicting rain.

And then the pipes. With all schools to follow.
Armidale has some really pretty buildings. Above is the Imperial Hotel.

And below is the post office.

And above are the pipes heading down Faulkner street.
I'm actually standing on the Faulkner/Dumaresq street roundabout to take the photo.

Great day, good turn out. Got sun burnt,  won't need to take my vitamin D this week!

Armidale’s Autumn Festival 2015

Oh – you have to love people yelling and screaming in delight when they see you!

I love the Autumn festival – you smile so much your mouth hurts and you spend hours talking to locals about your cars.

Plus I wandered off and bought a rusty corrugated iron piggy which is now near the front door. –

ALSO – above photo, Grahams holding his coffee, can you spot where I’ve rested mine while I take the photo, ha ..ha..???

So this year we presented both cars at the Autumn festival.

‘Mrs C’, went on parade, and the older ‘Baby’ went into the park where she attracted a flock of admirers.

Its funny how an old car like that attracts all the teens and the 20 something's, who are amazed at how little she weighs and how olds she is ---- She is a cougar!.. She's a Lotus…

I Remember You – Finally FINISHED!

IMG_0402

Well, I’ve been dragging my feet finishing off the binding and the label’s on this quilt…

But finally it is complete and here are the clothesline shots to prove it .

IMG_0403

I really need to find a new place to take full length shots of finished quilts as the clothes line doesn’t wind up anymore.

(Maybe I need to get Graham to oil the winder upper thing)!

I’ve posted it today – off to its new home – so I’ll wait until it arrives safely  before I publish this post.

This quilt is for my parent to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary
