Favourite Photos, 2010 to 2020 - Episode 11- 'The Long View'

In the grounds of Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, U.K. December 2017.

It was so cold that day, we left the milk in our car, in the car park, all day and it didn't spoil, in fact we were lucky it didn't freeze!

Its lovely to reflect on all the amazing places we have been in the past, especially in this era of no travel due to the pandemic.

I took most of these photos, apart from the second of the Yorkshire Moors which is one of Grahams, and the showground view which was taken by the real estate agent from the house we were selling!

It actually made your eyes go all funny. The sky was blue and the land was purple, confusing.

New Year Road Trip

Happy New Year My Dear Readers!

Lets hope 2021 is a better year, although its not got off to a great start.

I have some photos to share of our trip down south to meet baby Hamish.

As COVID-19 is on the rise again in greater Sydney we had to avoid the big city.

So, we went off with no plan (but to see Hamish) and took the trip day by day, which isn't what we would normally do over the busy New Year period. But I think lots of people had their travel plans changed so we had no problem finding last minute accommodation, and lots of the motels are giving free breakfasts which was a bonus.

First night was historic Berrima in the Southern Highlands
This is their gaol/Correctional Centre

Above is the Berrima Courthouse, lovely honey coloured sandstone.

Then nights two and three we spent in Mittagong.

A quick trip up the road to Bowral to the Bradman Museum.

Graham got to use his new Seniors Card for the first time!

I think they need to update it to include the sandpaper incident and Phil Hughes death.

And the next day was New Years Eve, and our journey took us west then north to Parkes.

 The Dish!
Graham got to use his Seniors Card again and they gave me an honorary discount as well, although I'm not too sure how I feel about that!

Then New Years Day it was a trip from Parkes to Coonabarabran. The plan was to continue the planetary theme with a trip to Siding Springs Observatory but it was closed!

But before leaving Parkes we visited their Elvis and Car Museums.

Parkes has a famous Elvis festival every January, but like a lot of other things it has been cancelled for 2021 due to the pandemic. How much income these little towns are losing is anyone's guess.

There was heaps of traffic on the Newell Highway between Parkes and Coona.
It was hundreds of Victorian's heading south. They had cancelled their holiday plans and had to get home before Victoria closed it borders again at midnight on New Years Day due to the COVID pandemic. I hate to think how heavy the traffic was on the coastal highways.

Anyway, we only had a three hour drive home from Coonabarabran, and so far nowhere we went has been declared a COVID hotspot.

Next time, I will be continuing on with my celebration of my favourite blog photos 2010 to 2020.

Some of my most anticipated episodes are yet to come!
