That's because the emblem of Bern is the bear and it is on everything.
They even have real bears.
(It wasn’t cooperating for the photo – probably due to the 20 Asian tourists next to me that were chattering at it).
This is a really a beautiful city. It is all UNESCO world heritage listed.
It also has the obligatory clock that crowds gather to see and ohh and ahh at it and take movies of it.
There are beautiful water fountains in most streets. The water is clean and fresh and I saw people filling their water bottles there.
And, they have some beautiful shops, even the tourist shops are classy and sell expensive things like watches and Swiss army knives.
But, Switzerland has a reputation for being expensive and it is.
It costs a lot more to eat here, and our hotel was expensive and not all that flash (but in a good location).
The currency is Swiss Francs and this is one country that does not want to go to Euros.
