Very quickly we have reached the last day of the coach trip.
Most people are busy organising their transfers and packing to go home.
Everyone is tired, although we think the last week has been easy peasy compared to the few weeks before when we were organising everything ourselves.
We will miss Marisa telling us what to do and where to meet.
Above is Marisa, “Are you excited”
Its colder today, 16 degrees, with a very chilly wind and bright blue skies.
Today the group caught water taxis along the Grand Canal to the Rialto Bridge.
We had a guided tour of ‘Secret Venice’ which finished back at St Marks square.
We then had free time.
Graham and I went up the bell tower in St Marks Square.
(It has a lift, because the original tower fell down 100 years ago and they rebuilt it with a lift)
It was bitterly cold when we were at the top but we took some spectacular pictures.
We then had lunch and took a leisurely stroll through the winding Venice streets back to our hotel.
Its about an hours walk without stopping. But there are so many beautiful shops you have to stop every few minutes!
There is so much Murano glass and every store seems to have something different.
Then stores that sell the masks and costumes for Carnivale.
Then there are magnificent shoes, clothes and jewellery.
And don’t blame me, Graham is as bad at stopping to look at the shops and says it is sensory overload.
Tonight we had our final farewell dinner with the group.
Even though the group was large everyone got on well and we met some really interesting people.
Most people are travelling onward or to home tomorrow, BUT we will be staying.
Onto the next chapter……….
Until next time, Kim
