YORK–Toot, Toot, here comes Thomas….

Today we went out to see more of the sights of York and its surrounds.

National Rail Museum

All aboard and mind the gap we went off to see some choo choos.

We liked this Museum as it was free!

I liked the shed/ warehouse part – they have soooo much stuff!

Whitby and Whitby Abbey

We then took a drive North to visit Whitby.

Whitby has the dubious title as the Goth capital of the UK

Partly as the Abbey was the inspiration for the book Frankenstein.

As we are English Heritage Members we get into the Abbey free.

Whitby is also has strong links to Captain Cook,

he was born nearby and did hid apprenticeship here.

Yorkshire Moors

We drove over a hill and its purple!

Its one of the prettiest things I have ever seen, all these hills covered in

purple heather and dotted with sheep.

It actually confused my eyes, it looked like a photos where the colours had gone wrong!

Now I know why people say this is a pretty part of the world…

And, we couldn’t drive past without stopping at Goatherd

better known as where they filmed ‘Heartbeat’

There are 100’s of sheep wandering everywhere

in the village, on the road – Cheeky things!

Heartbeat, why to you skip when my baby kisses me, do do do….

Until next time, Red heartRed heartRed heart Kim
