Isn't it Good to have Friends

A Charlie Brown quilt for my friend Mary-Anne,
who is a big fan of the Peanuts gang.

The feature panel I bought a few years ago.
It was one of those occasions where I needed to spend 10 dollars more to qualify for a discount coupon and 1/2 price postage from America, so I bought this panel.
(At the same time I bought the Lion King panel and some
Toy Story fabric which will feature in a future quilt).

Then last year when I was on holidays I got it out to look at it and decide what to do with it.
I kept thinking Mary-Anne would love it so much.
I decided to make her a cushion for Christmas...

I went back to work on the Monday and her Mum Vicky was in ICU.
She died on the Thursday and I went home that day and designed a whole quilt around the panel that was going to be a cushion!

Below is the top finished and I'm getting the backing ready to go to the quilters.
I was inspired by the zig-zag from Charlie's shirt and continued it around the borders.

Hi Mum's Dear Readers.

Its me Miss Lizzy, quilt quality controller, to let you know who is the
world's most popular cartoon dog!
Its of course that hero dog SNOOPY!

I will also let you in on a secret, there was a lot of gnashing of teeth from our Mum during the production of this quilt as it all seemed to go wrong.

10 Most Popular Cartoon Dogs
  • #8: Lady and Tramp—Duo from Walt Disney Movie. ...
  • #7: Brian Griffin from "The Family Guy" TV series. ...
  • #6: Goofy—Walt Disney Cartoon. ...
  • #5: Underdog—a Superhero Cartoon Dog. ...
  • #4: Odie from "Garfield" ...
  • #3: Pluto—Pet and Friend of Mickey Mouse. ...
  • #2: Scooby Doo from "Scooby Doo, Where Are You!" ...
  • #1: Snoopy from the Comic Strip "Peanuts"

Above is my pal Tiny Teddy paying his respects to Snoopy during the quilt binding process and giving his doggie approval to the quilting pattern, which was Snoopy as well!
Until next time, love and wet noses, Miss Lizzy.

As that cheeky dog of mine just alluded to, I had some major issues with
this quilt and a couple of sleepless nights!

I guess its a good test of one's problem solving abilities.
I honestly think this is the most unpicked quilt I have ever made!!!

Above is the final design from EQ7.

But below is the original design....

I could not get the smaller zig-zag border to fit at all!
I have no idea what I did wrong.
    Maybe border creep?
That is when you work with small pieces if you are not precise
with your piecing each block becomes very slightly bigger
and then  you can be centimeters out by the end of a row!

Any way, I unpicked it, took out some blocks, and moved the smaller border
and I think it turned out just lovely and made the feature
    fabric more of a feature.

    And she loved it!
