A day in the rain… again!

Hello Dear Readers.

You would think at our age that Graham and I would have learn't our lesson about a Day on the Green. However I still paid out all this money so we could get soaked through, and sit in chilly wet undies for hours.

(speak for yourself,replies Graham, my pants remained dry throughout)

But we have, I admit, learned the value of taking lots of bin liners to protect our picnic and backpacks!

Was it worth it!

Headline act was Jimmy Barnes!

(The cultural experience of a trip to the porta loos.. which I think I also spoke about the last time we did a day on the green).

Other supporting acts were, Diesel, again in the rain.

And The Angels- “Am I ever gonna see your face again, no way, too much rain,,, DRY OFF…”

I took this photo above with my phone. Me thinks very atmospheric, although a bit damp.

And then the highlight was Jimmy. This is my best photo below…

But most of my pics  looked like this one below….

Jimmy, was good, but not great, voice not quite as powerful as it was, but then maybe I had swimmers ear.

The V&A Quilt Finished

(Dear Readers - So far behind in my blog that it will take me months to catch up)!!!

Here is the V&A quilt finally complete.

This was the quilt made with fabric purchased from the gift shop at the V&A museum  in London.

Mum and I visited it on the 6th September in 2011, while the blokes went to the imperial war museum.

I had to look up that post to get the date!

The V&A had had a quilt exhibition the previous year and all these fabrics were based on traditional fabrics used in those quilts.

Its a block called rolling stone, and I fussy cut the ric-rac border. 

Miss Lizzy is helping with the traditional clothes line shots.

Its now on the wall in the dining room.

As usual I have lots of tops nearly finished.. I always seem to get board when I get to the borders (board/borders a pun! Such fun!)

Under Pressure … Finally finished!

Dear Readers you will be delighted to know that I have finished the bigger Under Pressure quilt,,,,  I gave it to Graham’s nephew and his wife for Christmas, and it  now has gone to live in Brussels.

Below is part of the label.

It has Australian and some Dutch blocks and lots of scrappy blocks… (as Merel is Dutch and Tom is Australian)

It’s turned out really well and I am very pleased with it!

The smaller one is still in progress!

Happy New Year everyone!

These are photos I took on New Years Day, from our deck… My first pictures for 2017.

It was a really HOT day and we had been out with the car club.

Finally a storm in the afternoon to cool things down, and these are the Galahs celebrating and enjoying the rain.

 

2017 should be an interesting year, we are hoping to renovate our decks on the house, have a overseas trip and become grandparents!

Sean & Rosie’s  baby girl is due in May!

I’m busy making a quilt of course…

Christmas–At Home

 

Merry Christmas everyone!

2016 Christmas Day was spent

at Paul & Mel’s with Grahams family.

Tom and Merel are here from Brussels. (and I finally got to give them the quilt that I have been making for years – post to follow)!

Mel went to lots of effort, with lots and lots of food!

We had the boxing Day ‘Cheese Board’ at our place. Georgie got to dress up in her Christmas collar!

And, Lizzy decided she loves kids…….

…and food!

I’ve run out of space for the Christmas village, its totally out of control!

This year I’ve added, a tearoom, some clowns to the carnival, and a group of dogs dressed in Christmas costumes…. who’s going to dispose of this junk when I’m gone?

 

Apart from the village additions, I controlled the rest of my urges and bought no further Christmas decorations this year! The house is FULL.

I don’t think the decorations will come out next year as we are planning to spend Christmas in London… But our planning is in the early days, might not come off yet!

More Christmas cheer this year!

I’ve made reindeer noses for the staff and our  friends.

Well I didn’t really make them,,, but assembled them..  I spent an awful lot of time printing labels out and putting it all together.. not to mention the tweezers and the glue to stick the sequin on Rudolph's nose….

Also, again, not to mention that you can’t buy proper Jaffas anymore! What's that about.

After driving all round town, I used a Darell Lea peanut cluster for the red nose,  which was yummy!

Everyone loved them. Very successful.

We entered the hospital Christmas decorations competition.

We didn’t stand a hope! Some of the wards and units where fantastic.

Pharmacy and radiology had brilliant decorations (X ray deer). I hear kids ward was amazing and I went into a corridor in the community health building that was like Santa's grotto!

We had a blow up reindeer, kindly donated by Bunnings. Its was made up to look like it had been hit by a truck….

The new tree was unfortunately covered with specimen jars –  not my idea….

Nothing to do with me..

Do you really think I have any control! Ha Ha.

Our Christmas party was at the Grand Hotel, which is sort of our local….

We are closed now until January 3rd. It was chaos on the last day. We are redecorating our nurses station. We had to move all the computer terminals and paperwork. We also had to discharge and transfer our last patients out!

Whew – now to get my Christmas shopping done.
