……& we move on…

 

Graham & I have  been very busy (and stressed) moving house.

here are my final pictures of our old home, all empty and I cried.

 

We have now rented a house which could not be further away in Armidale.

Moving from North Hill to South Hill. Although, in Armidale this was a 9 minute drive!!

This rental’ is only a little place, it smells like cigarettes and the kitchen is like cooking in a caravan..

BUT it was reasonably priced, gave us a short lease and allowed outside dogs. 

Whoops, not quite the outside dogs we promised they’d be! *blush*.

However,, there is some good news ,, we have had an offer accepted to buy a new house!

Below is the backyard.. it’s over 1/2 an acre.

When the purchase is nearly 100% certain, I will be excited to blog about our pending new home!

AND guess what – this current rental is about 2 house from the south edge of town…. The new house is on the very edge of the north side of town!…. figures..

Uh oh… we did it… we SOLD it!

and we are going to have to rent -  eeek – as we can’t find anything we want to BUY!!!

AND all this money to spend – sigh….

Hopefully we will find a house to buy in the next few months or we may decide to build…

(building = double eeek)…

So I’m packing the ‘precious things’ first, and wondering when I’ll see them again?

Anyway, I must get back to the packing, instead of procrastinating by writing blog posts…

Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered – Finally Finished!!

Here is the second part and final of my kaleidoscope quilt project.

Above is the label. I love the font I found which of course is called Bewitched!

The larger version of this quilt went to my sister for a pressie last Christmas and this is the smaller version, FOR ME!!

The top has actually been finished and quilted for a few months , but I have been too busy to find time to do the binding.

And then there has been so much rain it’s been hard to get a dry day to take a photo.

We are still trying to sell the house, a lot of interest but not enough sensible offers.

Hopefully once the weather warms up we’ll have more luck.

 

Australia's Longest Bridge

Recently we went on a weekend trip with the car club to the Port Macquarie swap meet.

I took lots of great photos and here are the best!

An early start from Armidale. Again this year we were reluctant to take the Lotus due to the weather forecast and therefore gave the ‘Classis Laser’ a run.

First stop was Dorrigo for morning tea and a look at their engine graveyard and the Dorrigo Falls.

 

 

 

Next stop was lunch at Fredo Pies at Frederickton….

 

Then a drive down the newly opened section of the Pacific Highway.

This is Australia's longest bridge built to go over the floodplains in this area

We backtracked so we could take some photos underneath.

From the Macleay Argus:- THE Kempsey Bypass project is the first stage of the approved 40km Kempsey to Eungai Pacific Hwy upgrade.

The $618 million project was fully funded by the Australian government.

The bypass is 14.5km long and includes Australia’s longest road bridge, which spans the floodplain at Frogmore and the Macleay River at Frederickton.

                                                         

 

 

Then off to our motels at Port Macquarie..

That evening dinner at the Panthers Club.

The next day we took a drive around Wauchope and surrounds.

Car and sheds for the boys and bonsai for the girls.

On the final day and the day of the Swap Meet the weather turned and it poured rain.

Same as it did last year.

But I did come home with a little collection of Royal Albert China, bargained for on various stalls! $28 for that lot – Bargain!

We made a dash for the car, trying not to break my little purchases – we got soaked anyway and had to later change clothes at McDonalds.

BUT,, When we got back to the Laser there was police tape tied to the side mirror and a very young police officer saying..

“Aww, your not going to remove my tape holder?”

The power lines had come down in the storm and just missed the car by inches, or it was that close they may have hit it but there was no damage that we could see. I would have loved to taken a pic but it was teaming rain.

Now he’s 29!

We celebrated with a family decoy dinner,

then the next night was a Mexican themed surprise party!

Mothers Day at Petersons –2013

Hi all , here are, the belated ‘snaps’ from our mothers day  lunch at Petersons' cellar door, just south/east of Armidale.. (This is once where Sean & Emmy  held their Wedding, in the grounds).

A lovely, bright blue sky day, with simple BUT beautiful food.

 

A Leap of Faith

We are finally as ready as can be!

The house is FOR SALE!

Not taken by me of course, but a professional.

He even professionally got up onto the roof to take the picture of the view!

I have been here 12 years and it has been a beautiful house with lots of memories, but its time to move on.

Above: Is the view from the upstairs (and the roof) of our house, towards the south eastern edge of town, in its beautiful autumn glory. The red roofed stands are the Armidale Showground. We have always had great views of the fireworks.

 

We were a bit disappointed with the valuation, but maybe we weren’t being realistic.

However Grahams property has been valued at more than we expected so it’s all swings and roundabouts.

If your wondering about this house name its a Scottish name - Blair Atholl.

It’s was once the seat of the Scottish Stewart Earls,,,,,  and those that know us well will get the joke.

One of the reasons we decided to sell was that this is MY house and after being married for 8 years maybe its time to combine our finances and buy a property together.

This will be OUR FIRST HOUSE! (well… together)!

So, we are looking for a 4 bedroom house, fairly new and low maintenance.  It still needs to be a classic style so it will fit in with my vintage style of decor. We NEED more garage space so an extra garage/big shed, or the space to build one, is a MUST….. A big kitchen would be lovely, as would space that I could make my sewing room.  We need room for all our collections and more room for the (yet to materialise) grandkids to run around.

There are only two houses about that are sort of ‘okay’. Not far from where we are now about a 5  minute drive….  We are hoping that something perfect will pop up when we are ready to buy ----  otherwise yeek!
